Health "Don't Care"

Yet another reason why the Constitution did not grant the government the power to tax income until the Socialists passed the 16th amendment.

The IRS publishes the Social Security numbers of people who die. And... shocker!  People are using the list for identity theft.  Duh!

Repeal the 16th amendment, eliminate the IRS and all taxes except the fair tax on retail consumption.

Purchasing Health insurance is already forced on you.

It makes no difference whether the Supreme Court finds the mandate for every individual to purchase health insurance constitutional, or not.

Government regulations, Insurance contracts, punitive damages for malpractice and Medicare's process for determining reasonable and customary fees imposes an inflated fixed retail price on medical care that can only be afforded if you purchase health insurance.

Medicare and Insurance companies destroy price competition by imposing price controls (a floor) on the cost of medical care.
The incentive with competition is to lower prices. With Medicare, the incentive is to inflate prices.

Doctors get paid by the insurance company based on a contracted rate which is lower than the "prevailing" or "Reasonable and Customary" rate set by a survey of what doctors are billing.
The more the prevailing rate the more the Doctors get compensated. Guess what, that is an incentive to raise the prevailing rate.
If you have insurance, the Doctors can not charge more than the insurance's contracted rate.
The uninsured though have to be charged the inflated prevailing rate or the insurance company can sue the Doctor for fraud or adjust the prevailing rate downwards.
So no Doctor or hospital is allowed to compete on price.

Due to government intervention, if you don't have health insurance or a subsidy from the government you can't get affordable care they way you could before the government interfered with the Free Market.

The government is obese.  Let's put it on a power diet!

The government has no right or duty to control people's diet or pass laws to abridge that liberty.
In fact, the government has NO rights at all, only duties. And only the duties explicitly enumerated in the Constitution.

The People grant the government power for the purpose of carrying out those specific duties and reserve all other power for the States and the People.

The government is empowered to protect us from criminal behavior, epidemic communicable diseases and certain other threats domestic and foreign.
It cannot ban alcohol because in and of itself it is not a danger to public health but it can prohibit life threatening behavior under the influence of alcohol like driving.

The government can perhaps ban trans fats from being sold (or add taxes) but not from being consumed.
It can ban cigarettes from being sold (or make itself rich with taxes ostensibly to decrease sales) but not from being smoked (that applies to Pot and other drugs also) but can control where they are smoked because second hand smoke is a public health risk.

If a person wants to eat all day, not exercise and get fat, the government can not prohibit or abridge a person's right to the liberty of eating what they please.
The government can not use Public Health as a mandate to force the person on a diet. Food in and of itself is not a threat to Public Health.
Obesity is not communicable and not a disease that can affect public health.
All it affects is Public Money because the government immorally and unconstitutionally meddles in Health programs and steals money from one group to support another.

If Obesity causes Medicare to become unwieldy and more costly, and Government steals more from everyone to support the Obese, GOOD!
Maybe people will wake up and see that Government Medicare is wrong in principle.

Government regulation of your life is also wrong in principle except to prevent grave injury and death.

The Liberty of individuals to create a business and market a product, that is not a danger to life and limb, cannot be abridged.

Health insurance should be able to raise their prices for the Obese and motivate people to diet. They should also be able to have more limited coverage and compete on price.

Face it the Constitution is not being followed and the government has slipped into a degree of tyranny.
